Library 2.018: Design Thinking online conference: propose a session by 15 February

The San Jose State University School of Information announces the Library 2.018 Worldwide Virtual Conference series, with the first of three online conferences scheduled for March 8, 2018. “Design Thinking: How Librarians Are Incorporating It into Their Practiceis the topic for the March web conference. Everyone is invited to participate, and registration is free!

Abstract: Design thinking is a process designers use to thoughtfully identify problems and develop prototypes useful for implementing an elegant solution. In response to the growing interest in design thinking, this web conference will cover insights into the process and examples of how librarians are integrating it into their practice. You’ll learn how you can develop and lead a design challenge at your library.

Keynote Speakers: The conference is being organized in partnership with Steven J. Bell, who will moderate the opening keynote panel (panelists to be announced) and deliver the closing address.

Crowdsourced Sessions: Start thinking about your presentation now! The Call for Proposals is open, and proposals are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Presentations should not exceed 20 minutes to allow time for Q&A. All presentations must be non-commercial and will be recorded and released under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs License. Web conference training will be provided for presenters and is mandatory. More information at http://www.library20.com/page/call-for-proposals-design-thinking. Submissions accepted until February 15.
Upcoming Library 2.018 Conferences: The “Design Thinking” conference in March will be followed by two more conferences in 2018. Mark your calendar for June 7 when the IMLS-funded grant project on blockchain technology will be discussed. In October, “Libraries and Social Crises” will be the focus.
