The Tenth International Conference on the Applications of Digital Information and Web Technologies (ICADIWT 2019) is a forum for researchers to present the intensive and innovative research, ideas, developments and applications in the areas of Computer Communications, Communication networks, Communication Software Communication Technologies and Applications, and other related themes.

This conference (ICADIWT Edition IX) will include presentations of contributed papers and state-of-the-art lectures by invited keynote speakers. Publication and Indexing

The accepted full papers will be published in the IOS series (Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence and Applications (FAIA))and submitted for inclusion in many indexes. Accepted full papers will be submitted for indexing to multiple abstract and indexing partners. The papers will be indexed in many databases as given at http://www.frontiersinai.com/?q=indexing
The accepted papers will be published as a post-conference publication. During the conference, the pre-conference volume will be distributed.

LITA/Library Hi Tech Award - Deadline Extended, Jan 15

Nominations are open for the 2019 LITA/Library Hi Tech Award, which is given each year to an individual or institution for outstanding achievement in educating the profession about cutting edge technology within the field of library and information technology. Sponsored by the Library and Information Technology Association (LITA) and Library Hi Tech, the award includes a citation of merit and a $1,000 stipend provided by Emerald Publishing, publishers of Library Hi Tech. The deadline for nominations is December 31, 2018 (extended to January 15, 2019).

The award, given to either a living individual or an institution, may recognize a single seminal work or a body of work created during or continuing into the five years immediately preceding the award year. The body of work need not be limited to published texts but can include course plans or actual courses and/or non-print publications such as visual media. Awards are intended to recognize living persons rather than to honor the deceased; therefore, awards are not made posthumously. More information and a list of previous winners can be found on the LITA website.

Nominations must include the name(s) of the recipient(s), basis for nomination, and references to the body of work and should be submitted using the online nomination form.

The award will be presented at the LITA President’s Program during the 2019 Annual Conference of the American Library Association in Washington D.C.

Seminars 2019

Join the School of Information and Library Science in London, Prague, or
Berlin during summer 2019! Our programs offer students and working
professionals an opportunity to deepen their knowledge and understanding in a
global context while offering unique, hands-on experience. Look behind the
scenes at libraries throughout England or the Czech Republic, or explore the
inner workings of global corporations and start-ups in Germany. In a time when
we are shifting to an increasingly borderless world, our programs offer both
students and professionals an opportunity to deepen their knowledge and
understanding of library or information science in a global context.

Our seminars are open to students as well as practicing professionals.
Seminars are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, and they tend to

The London Summer Seminar offers an opportunity to gain an in-depth view of
libraries and librarianship in Great Britain. Lectures and site visits will be
arranged by the faculty of University College London’s (UCL’s) Department of
Information Studies, the largest and one of the most highly ranked LIS Schools
in the United Kingdom. The seminar also includes tours of cultural heritage

Prague: May 19- June 1
Prague offers lectures and tours related to librarianship in a country that
deals with a history of monarchy, empire, Communism, and the meeting of east
and west. Participants experience firsthand how the democratization of the
Czech Republic, formerly a communist state, has affected the accessibility of
information. The program is offered in partnership with Charles University.

Berlin: May 20-May 30
The Berlin Summer Seminar is specifically targeted for IS majors/minors and
focuses on the ways information gathering, dissemination, privacy, and
security affect business. By participating in business visits, students will
closely examine the juxtaposition between multinational tech companies and the
entrepreneurial start-up scene. The program provides an excellent avenue for
career exploration. This program is partnered with Humboldt University. More

UCLA Library offers grant to digitize at-risk cultural heritage content

Documenting Global Voices is a granting program that enables organizations holding at-risk materials as well as faculty, researchers, and cultural heritage specialists to digitize analog materials or to collect and make accessible existing digital assets.

Content scope:

• Rare and unique materials of historical, cultural and social significance
• 19th century – present
• Focus on materials located in Africa, Central and Southeast Asia, the Caribbean and Latin America, and the Middle East

Call for Proposals: ALA Annual 2019

The American Library Association's International Relations Round Table Papers and Projects Committee invites proposals for presentations to be made at the next ALA Annual Conference in Washington, D.C., USA. Presentations will be delivered at the International Papers Session scheduled in June 2019. The International Papers and Projects Program provides librarians with an opportunity to exchange information about library services, collections and projects throughout the world. The program also serves to stimulate the interest of U.S. librarians in international library matters.

We invite presentation proposals based on the International Papers and Projects 2019 theme: Preparing for a Changing World: How Libraries Facilitate the Acquisition of New Skill Sets in Communities.
Societies are constantly changing whether because of demography, socio-political climates or even new technology disruptions which require new ways of thinking and learning. All of these have an impact on communities, how they function, interact as well as a bearing on who gets ahead and who falls behind. Libraries have long sought to level the playing field, promoting equity and inclusivity while trying to keep up with change. With an ever-widening scope, libraries increasingly play the role of a facilitator, bringing together different stakeholders in the community to strengthen and improve the lives of those it serves.

Do you have a story to share about how your library, on its own or in collaboration with community organizations, is encouraging the acquisition of new skill sets such as health literacy for an aging population, new media initiatives and strategies that help families navigate a changing media landscape, critical evaluation skills to help members assess the information they consume online and other life skills like communication and negotiation that have grown in importance in a divisive world?

Possible topics relating to this theme may include-but are not limited to:

• New kinds of literacies that you have implemented in their libraries and how it has impacted the communities you serve.
• How your library has worked with stakeholders to expand what you are able to offer in terms of either imparting new skills or provision of information.
• Creative use of social media and/or technologies to reach out to the wider population.
• How your projects have been marketed to ensure that initiatives are well-publicized.
• Use of data to make informed decisions on what is needed.
• Working with other libraries across borders to maximize resources and/or to augment developmental needs.
